ABOUT THE BOOK
The Great Gulf between Catholicism and Christianity is the fruit from years of labour on Dr. Smith's part that includes interviewing current and former pastors, priests, nuns, historians, apologetic ministries, researching both in the US and Europe, and compiling a complete library of information for the sole purpose of weighing what men teach against what is taught in the Bible as the final authority in all matters of my faith and practice.
Dr. Casey Smith's heart is to see the salvation of those who hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. With that desire comes the greatest responsibility that all of God's Shepherds understand, and that responsibility is to deliver the message of Jesus Christ without supplementing or editing it in any way. All who name Jesus Christ as "Lord and Saviour" are called to believe, proclaim and faithfully live godly before others while having the Word of God as their first and final authority.
In witnessing the degree of disparity between what the Bible teaches and what is taught in the Catholic religion, Dr. Smith explains that his heart was "grieved to see so many well-intentioned people who lived what might be considered basically good lives, go to hell." It just so happens that it wasn't the Jehovah's Witness, Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists, Branhamites, Charasmatics, Unificationists, Christian Scientists, New Agers or any other more readily known cultic group for which conviction came to reach. Rather, it was the largest single sudo-Christian cult in the world that for the most part, has been shrouded in liturgy and form since it's inception. It's leaders hold positions with professing Chrisitian organizations across the globe. We can now witness her priests giving mass services at the once fundamentally Christian organization known as The Salvation Army. Yes, good works may abound, but the world must know that "satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works" (Phillipians 11:14-15 KJV).
Dr. Smith goes on to say "I have witnessed the Catholic religion to be the Judas of the world's family of religions. There are fragments of truth hidden among the doctines of demons that are just barely visible enough to appeal to a seeking person's carnality. There's a developed Catholic notion that by doing good deeds, a man is somehow justified before God or by a few carefully dictated words, somehow he is absolved from sin. Unfortunately, the result from trusting in a works-based salvation, the damnable heresies, and cowardly lineage of popery can only produce still-born professing Christians that have not been made alive in the new birth commanded by the Lord Jesus Christ. The pomposity of its leadership, the blasphemy of its doctrines and the sure judgement that is to come for those who have trusted in it must lead Christians to run in love to the Catholic and plead "repent, repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!"
When asked by his publisher "what is your intent for the book?"; Dr. Smith responded by saying "To point people to God's Word, to bring awareness of sin and deception wherever it may lurk by exposing it, and ultimately be a source for Catholics, Christians, and anyone else for that matter of encouragement and conviction - encouragement from the Good News of Jesus Christ and conviction of sins from which Jesus alone can save." Let me repeat that last part - from which Jesus alone can save."
Dr. Smith's intentions have never been to sell thousands of copies of his book, but to see the application of the book's content to the hearts of those Christians who will love Catholics enough to tell them the truth. My heart's desire is that Catholics might "know Jesus, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means they might attain unto the resurrection of the dead." (Phillipians 3:10-11).
In November 2008, the book was officialy released to distribution channels by Tate Publishing (www.tatepublising.com). The initial distribution of the book has gained much attention and has continued "traction" among ministries who are ordering copies to use as study guides for apologetic ministry outreach. We expect to see greater saturation into faitful Christian Bible colleges and Seminaries as the merit and content of the book is experienced by those who read it.
Whether you are a born-again Christian, a Catholic, or profess any other faith, may you know that until a time comes in your life when the Holy Spirit convicts you of your sin, you respond with repentance and by faith turn from your sin to Jesus Christ of Nazarareth who is both Lord & Christ, there exists no hope of reconciliation between you and almighty God. Whomever you are, you must know that the "wages of sin is death, " but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Trusting in Mary, the Pope, the mass, confession, indulgeneces, or any other by-product of man-generated tradtion that is devoid of Holy Spirit conviction can only reward you with "the lake of fire!"
So please; whoever you are, turn to Jesus. Jesus alone paid the price to cover your sin-debt with his righteous blood, and lives forevermore to intercede on your behalf - He awaits your coming to Him! Go to Him by faith and cry out for forgiveness and it will be done according to His promise.
